The City Congress Committee along with District Congress Committee will organise a massive meeting at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan on Sunday with local party leaders, people’s representatives assembling to express their gratitude to the State Assembly for taking up the task of giving statutory status to the SC/ST Sub-Plan.

At the first-ever press conference organised by the newly appointed City Congress Committee president Adapa Siva Nagendra Rao and Working president Meesala Rajeswara Rao here on Saturday after assuming office recently said that the city unit of the party will take the provisions of the Sub-Plan to the SC/ST population in the district and city. The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. District Congress Committee president Naraharasetty Narasimha Rao said that it was the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh headed by N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, which had thought of this programme for the first time in the country.

This would benefit the downtrodden classes and fulfil their dreams, he added. When the provisions of the Sub-Plan are publicised, the party would take it to the door-step of the people to get benefited out of it.

The member enrolment process had begun on November 19, but no schedule had been given so far by the party highcommand to complete the process, said Mr. Nagendra Rao. A prospective member had to be a listed voter in that polling booth and must provide his/her photo along with prescribed fee and application form, they added.
