Vijayawada archers for world varsities’ meet

City archer A. Ravali, a product of Hyderabad-based Andhra Pradesh Sports School, has been selected to represent Indian university archery team at the World Universities championship which at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from June 1 to 5.

The first year MBA student of Montessori Mahila Kalasala will represent the recurve team. Incidentally, Ravali is the first sportswoman to represent the Indian University from Krishna University. “I am very happy about my selection. I want to give my best shot,” says Ravali, who was felicitated by Krishna University Vice Chancellor Prof. Sunkara Rama Krishna Rao and college correspondent V. Koteswaramma.

Previously she represented Andhra Pradesh at the junior nationals and secured one silver and three bronze medals. In 2013, she represented India at Asian Grand archery championship held at Mongolia.

Presently she is undergoing coaching at Cherukuri Volga and Lenin archery academy, under the guidance of AP Archery Association secretary Ch. Satyanarayana.

Training

The selected archers will undergo training at Punjabi University, Patiala from May 1. All the physical directors of the affiliated colleges of Krishna University conveyed congratulated the budding archer.

Koneru Lakshmaiah University archer Vennam Jyothi Surekha will be representing the Indian compound team at the World archery championship to be held at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Surekha, who is a regular face of the Indian compound team, is an Asian Games medallist.
