For all those who wish to spend quality time in nature’s lap amidst chirping sounds of birds and waterfalls, Chitrakoot waterfalls in Chhattisgarh is one of the best places to visit. The location is replete with waterfalls, temples and lush greenery and offers perfect ambience to relax and rejuvenate.
A group of 23 families from the city, which visited the spot early this month, shared their experiences and came up with suggestions for the Chhattisgarh tourism board.
It is perhaps one of those few locations, which are not explored by many tourists in the country.
After an overnight journey from the city, one lands in the serene and cool ambience of Chitrakoot.
There are three routes to reach there – from Bhadrachalam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam, explains M. Surendranath, a businessman, who was part of the group, which travelled to Chitrakoot waterfalls, also known as Indian Niagara.
From Bhadrachalam, it is about 220 kms away and from Vizianagaram, it is a six-hour drive via Salur and Jaipur. There are many waterfalls in and around Chitrakoot, the most popular among them are Tiratgarh waterfalls in Jagdalpur, which is 40 kms from Chitrakoot. Kangar Valley National Park, Shabari Emporium and Danteswari Devi temple, offer all the ingredients for a good family holiday trip, says Manmohan, another businessman.
The Chhattisgarh tourism operates a resort with decent accommodation of 12 rooms and 13 tents. Chhattisgarh Tourism has an office in Visakhapatnam and accommodation bookings and other details can be obtained.
