‘Charges against Lagadapati politically-motivated'

July 23, 2011 11:08 am | Updated 11:08 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The allegations made by former National Commission for Women Nirmala Venkatesh and Y.S.R. Congress leader Jaleel Khan against MP Lagadapati Rajagopal are politically motivated and the city Congress committee will file defamation cases against them if they do not withdraw them, city Congress president Pyla Sominaidu has said.

Addressing a press Conference at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan here on Friday Mr Sominaidu said it was not proper for Mr Jaleel Khan to say that the MP had come into politics only to become richer. The MP had resigned as the head of his company to serve the people. The rags to riches story of Mr Jaleel Khan after he came into politics was known to all, he said.

City Congress SC cell chairman Kalle Pulla Rao condemned the statement of Y.S.R Congress leader D.J. Kennedy that Mr Rajagopal was anti- dalit.

Condemned

Mr Sominaidu and Mr Pulla Rao jointly condemned the attack on A.P.Bhavan official by TRS MLA Harish Rao.
