The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has demanded the State Government to release a white paper on government initiatives vis-a-vis floods and droughts during last 9 years.
Party president N. Chandrabbu Naidu visited rain affected villages in the Krishna district on Monday. On the occasion, he said that the State was hit by as many as 15 floods and droughts during the last nine years.
The State government has requested the Centre to provide an assistance of Rs. 56,000 crore. However, the Centre announced Rs. 2,000 crore, he pointed out, adding,
“The onus lies on the State Government to reveal the facts. Let the government release a paper on its initiatives and Centre’s assistance.”
The TDP appointed Agriculture Extension Officers for every 250 acres. The Congress government has replaced them with Adarsha rythus and Congressmen, he said.
The Adarsha rythu never visited a field in their jurisdiction. Instead, they “withdrew input subsidy” meant for the farmers, he said. The input subsidy never reached the farmer under Congress rule, he said.
‘Costs skyrocketing’
The farmers were deceived to the maximum extent. There was neither Minimum Support Price (MSP) nor remunerative prices to the agricultural produces.
The prices of DAP, fertilizers were skyrocketing. The farmer used to get Rs. 1,500 per 100 kg paddy bag while the DAP was Rs. 400 per 50 kg during TDP rule, he said.
Now, the DAP costs Rs.1,400 and the farmer gets Rs. 500 for a bag of paddy, he pointed out. “Even after four days of the cyclone hit the State neither officials nor ministers visited the affected areas.
The government is in deep slumber. I have come here to wake up the government,” he said, adding, “There is a need for awareness and consciousness among you. Teach a lesson to the Congress government.”
Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Telugu Ryhtu district president Chalasani Anjaneyulu, TDP Urban president Vallabhaneni Vamsi and others were present. They visited Arugolanu, Akumanu and Puttagunta villages near here.
