Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu has said the Centre will compensate the budget deficit of Andhra Pradesh and extend full cooperation to the new State government headed by N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Mr. Naidu said the conflicting demands from various cities to be made the Capital of A.P. were being examined by the Sivaramakrishnan Committee, and that people had to wait for clarity on the matter. He asserted that the Central and State governments would work together for the development of the new State.
On Parliament sessions, Mr. Naidu said the decision of the Lok Sabha Speaker as to which party qualified for Opposition party status would be final, and that it would be in tune with the BJP’s wish to give due importance other parties.
The plea to spare the post of Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha to Opposition parties was under consideration. President Pranab Mukherjee will address both Houses of Parliament on June 9. There will be a motion of thanksgiving for that on June 10 and 11, Mr. Naidu added.
