Two companies of Central paramilitary forces were deployed at sensitive areas in the district as a precautionary measure to prevent untoward incidents in view of the release of Justice Srikrishna panel report.
Security has been beefed up at Kothagudem, Yellendu and other areas particularly in the coal belt where the pro-Telangana organisations like the Telangana Rashtra Samiti and the CPI (ML-New Democracy) hold considerable influence.
Special focus has been laid on Khammam town considering the previous instances wherein the activists of CPI (ML-New Democracy) have staged widespread protest demonstrations here in November 2009 when the TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao was lodged at the sub-jail in the town during his fast.
Meanwhile, the personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) staged a flag march in the town on Thursday evening as part of the stepped up security arrangements to ward off trouble.
The CRPF personnel marched through the main thoroughfares of the town. Khammam DSP D. Pratap Reddy and other police officials participated in the march.
