Additional CEO of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) Ronald Ross on Tuesday said officials and staff involved in the Socio-Economic and Caste Census 2011 must adhere to the prescribed guidelines and work with commitment for successful completion of the drive.
Training
Speaking after formally inaugurating a two-day State-level training programme for master trainer facilitators at the sub-Collector's office, Mr. Ross said the 42-day long drive would be carried out from October 18 to identify BPL households that can benefit from the Centre's welfare schemes.
The entire State would be divided into 1,88,367 blocks and 51,861 laptops would be used to gather and compile information.
Mr. Ross said that enumerators must carry out the task with a great sense of responsibility and efficiently.
He said enumerators and data entry operators must be well versed with the given schedules.
Enumerators carrying out the task must exercise great caution and gather complete information with regard to an individual's name, relationship with the head of the family, marital status, parents' names, literacy status, profession, if physically disabled, caste and religion besides detailed information about the nature of an individual's job, income and property owned by the family. He said in Krishna district, 9,40,759 families in 49 mandals would be covered under the census.
The census work would be carried out by SERP in rural pockets while in towns like Pedana, Machilipatnam, Gudivada, Nuzvid, and Jaggayyapet, the task would be carried out by the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA).
Informing that the district Collector would supervise the implementation of the census work, Mr. Ross said the rural areas would be divided into 6,196 blocks while the towns would be divided into 3,000 blocks.
MEPMA Director K. Nageswara Rao, ADL Kondala Rao, district project director K Sivasankar, SERP joint director R. Rambabu, DD V. Rama Sastri, census DD G. Bapuji, DRDA project director J. Siva Srinivas, and master trainers were present.
