The BSNL is extending its 3G services to all major towns and mandal headquarters in the district. Related works would be completed in the next two months.
“Despite stiff competition from private companies, the BSNL has been doing well. The company has been providing better services to customers,” said Guntur Telecom District General Manager M.L.N. Rao.
“The Telecom Department is providing third generation services in the city and on important railway lines in the district. By March 2014, it plans to extend the facility to Bapatla, Tenali, Narsaraopet, Sattenapalli, and other towns,” Mr. Rao said.
The BSNL is also rolling out various services, including wireless Broadband (BB), bandwidth providers, and data usage cards on various schemes to corporate companies, educational institutions, NGOs, and other customers.
Data cards in demand“Telecom authorities are manning 1.3 lakh landline connections, 3.5 lakh cellphones, 30,000 BB and other services. The demand for BSNL data cards are good and about 22 per cent of the people are using telecom services in the rural areas. We are strictly following the rules of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and there has been a steady growth in BSNL usage in Guntur district,” said Mr. Rao.
“The company is conducting ‘Landline Reconnection Mela’, which will continue up to January 25. We request the customers to use landlines for clarity in voice and to avoid signal problems,” he said.
The Telecom Department is having 350 towers in Guntur, and officials are planning to arrange more towers for providing better services for mobile users.
“Customers are requested to submit their mobile, landline numbers, and mail IDs in the nearest Customer Care Centres to prevent delay in receiving bills,” said the General Manager.
