The British Deputy High Commissioner has evinced interest in having a tie-up with the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences in research activity and student exchange programme.
A team of officials headed by British Deputy High Commissioner, AP, Richard Hyde Trade and Investments Head Arun Pillai and Liaison Officer Deepthi interacted with Vice-Chancellor I.V. Rao regarding academic work being carried out on the university campus and infrastructural facilities it has all over the State.
The Vice-Chancellor said the British team was interested in student exchange programme through which British students could study the common health problems and treatment methodologies etc. in medical institutions here. The team also interacted with a group of students and learnt from them the problems they face in going to the United Kingdom for higher studies and promised to help them out in finding opportunities for Post-Graduate programmes there. Nursing students were explained the difference of work pattern and culture and during interaction told about the opportunities for them. The other area of interest shown by them was inviting Ayush doctors – Ayurvedic and Naturopathy streams. The team members said there were very few practitioners and no formal training available, but some students could go to Britain to learn the practices there. The exchange programme and research tie-up could be formalised in the months to come, he said.
