British High Commissioner to India Sir Dominic Anthony Gerard Asquith met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday and discussed the interests of British companies to invest in Amaravati. Representatives of Foster + Partners, TransStadia and a large water treatment company from Britain took part in the deliberations.
Mr. Naidu urged the High Commissioner to ensure that more British companies partnered with the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) in its development, particularly in transforming Amaravati into a world class city.
Officials of TransStadia spoke to Mr. Naidu on setting up a convention centre in Amaravati, similar to the Stadi Arena recently completed in Ahmedabad. The proposed complex has facilities for around 60 sporting activities and an indoor arena that can accommodate 4,000 people.
In the morning, Sir Asquith visited the Andhra Pradesh legislative building at Velagapudi. They were welcomed by Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao and Council Vice-Chairman Reddy Subrahmanyam.
Mr. Siva Prasada Rao showed the facilities provided in the Assembly Hall, to Sir Asquith and his team of diplomats.
Later, Mr. Siva Prasada Rao and Mr. Subrahmanyam held discussions with Sir Asquith and his team of diplomats on the construction of the capital and other developments taking place in the State.
British Deputy High Commissioner in Hyderabad, Andrew McAllister, and others were present.
