The result is a promise of transformation in engineering education and a sea change in the mindset of students and faculty members with emphasis on holistic development rather than just academic brilliance.
Chennai-based Reach Heights, an educational and training consultancy firm, which has initiated Industry Academia Interaction Programme (IAIP) at Chalapathi Institute of Technology located at Mothadaka village on Amaravathi Road, is promising to bring a whiff of fresh air to engineering education, which is caught in the melee of uncertainty dogging the higher education sector.
It has entered into a MoU with CIT in the presence of former IIT professors and a group of professionals from IIT and IIMs, who would be roped in to form the team soon.
Chairman of Chalapathi Group of Institutions Y.V. Anjaneyulu said he was happy to be part of a project that aims to transform engineering education in rural India. The emphasis was not only on basic core curriculum but also on improving infrastructure, playgrounds, and inculcate a spirit of innovation, excellence in research, and job skills.
The chairman inaugurated a Faculty Development Centre on the college campus.
CEO, Reach Heights, D. Rajesh Kumar, said they would set up a remote learning centre with facilities for direct interaction with academia, research lab, incubation centre, entrepreneurship cell, and a training and placement cell. Former deputy director, CEP, Anna University, N. Sambasiva Rao, Senior Engineer, Qualcomm, Bangalore, G. Prasanth Reddy, K. Anirudh, software engineer, McAfee, were present during a formal opening function held on Saturday.
Principal, CIT, Sreedhar Babu, and MD A. Raju were present.
