Bright future for agriculture and dairy, says Minister

May 24, 2010 06:31 pm | Updated 06:31 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister K. Parthasarathy said that there was a great future ahead for the agriculture and dairy industry if one would go by the emerging best practices and also increasing demand for agricultural products.

“At present, the agriculture sector seems to have become burdensome to farmers. There is a need for them to focus on other sectors related to agriculture for better returns,” said Mr. Sarathy.

Addressing a meeting after releasing products of the Coromandel Fertilizers held at Hotel Gateway here on Sunday the Minister said that even during drought, allied sectors of agriculture like dairy and poultry came to the rescue of farmers and their families. Mr. Sarathy said that the farmers would have a better standing if they look at allied sectors for additional income and this was the best way for those who were losing employment because of increased mechanisation of agriculture these days.
