‘Blazewada’ hots up as mercury soars to 44

Vijayawada lived up to its name ‘Blazewada’, with the city recording 44 degrees Celsius on Friday and Nellore being a bit hotter at 44.5, according to the Meteorological Department.

For Vijayawada, the temperature is forecast to hover around 45 degrees Celsius for the next six days, and similar conditions will prevail throughout the coastal region.

As the temperatures rose steeply, people confined themselves indoors for most part of the day throughout the region.

Vendors get busy Soft drink and fruit juice vendors minted money, as customers made a beeline to quench their thirst.

Overcast condition

The met office predicts overcast condition with an increase in relative humidity.

The entire coastal region reeled under the impact of a severe heat wave. With higher temperature being forecast over the coming week, people will have to gear up to face the heat wave by all means possible.
