Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha has lashed out at the ruling Congress and the Opposition party leaders for what it called ‘stoking’ the anti-Telangana agitation in the Seemandhra region.
In a statement here on Saturday, the Yuva Morcha State general secretary Chikkala Rajanikanth said that all political parties had given their consent to the Centre for granting statehood to Telangana.
While remaining silent when the UPA Government announced its decision to bifurcate the State, taking a deviant path of provoking people after sensing the strong anti-Telangana wave in the region amounted to public betrayal, he argued.
He said that if these leaders were sincere in their intentions, they should have resigned from their posts when the proposal of a separate Telangana was being seriously discussed. Even now, the leaders had only shunned their posts while none had resigned from the party, he pointed out.
Mr. Rajanikanth said that people were falling easy prey to the deceptive tactics of these leaders.
He said that leaders of Rayalaseema and Andhra regions must shift focus to chalking out action plans for their future development. They should spend their energy, instead, on getting the Centre to approve attractive packages for their regions.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists’ Krishna urban unit condemned the statement made by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrasekhara Rao on showing the door to people of Andhra region once a separate Telananga State was formed. Addressing a meeting held at the Press Club, APUWJ State vice-president Ambati Anjaneyulu demanded an unconditional apology from the TRS chief.
He said that KCR had insulted people of Andhra region by stating that they would not be given any other option but to leave Telangana. He said that people must understand that bifurcation of states could pose a serious threat to the unity of the nation.
