The BJP cadres are in an upbeat mood with the ‘Narendra Modi for PM’ campaign covering Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts being launched at PWD Grounds in the city on Wednesday by the party's former national president and Rajya Sabha member M. Venkaiah Naidu. He will address a public meeting at 2 p.m. and formally induct new members into the party.
Former MP and actor U.V. Krishnam Raju, who recently re-joined the party, and other leaders will participate in the campaign which, as its name suggests, is aimed at motivating people to vote for the party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the 2014 elections.
BJP city president D. Umamaheswara Raju said Mr. Venkaiah Naidu would explain why people should choose Mr. Modi for the Prime Minister’s post and the consequences of voting for a candidate to be fielded by Congress party.
The party’s frontal organisations – Bharatiya Janata Yuva, Mahila and Mazdoor Morchas – are actively taking part in the event. Besides, a large number of volunteers who expressed their willingness to work for the party in a host of outreach programmes will interact with the party leaders.
The ‘Be a Campus Ambassador’ drive conducted by BJYM with the slogan ‘Come, let’s join our hands to build Vibrant India’ has evoked encouraging response from the student community.
It was in addition to the just - concluded cricket tournament organised by the party’s youth wing as part of its youth-connect programme.
