The BJP State Council has condemned Telangana government’s attitude towards people of Andhra Pradesh settled in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district and alleged that its actions created a fear psychosis. The Telangana government should stop treating people of A.P. with disdain and restrain itself from discriminating students of A..P. in fee reimbursement issue. Besides, law & order in Hyderabad should be under the purview of the Governor.

These are the important resolutions that the party has passed at its first State Council meeting held here on Tuesday.

BJP State general secretary S. Suresh Reddy read out the resolutions which were accepted after a short discussion in the presence of Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu and party’s State president and Visakhapatnam MP K. Haribabu. The party asserted that denial of fee reimbursement to students of A..P. on any ground sought to be justified by the Telangana government, amounted to violating the relevant provisions of A..P. Reorganisation Act.

BJP also denounced curbs that Telangana government imposed on some television channels.

A party leader who suggested that A..P. should have a second Capital in Rayalaseema was snubbed by Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, who immediately dismissed the idea, saying that it was not desirable to rake up a fresh controversy when the State government has just begun undoing the damage that was inflicted by bifurcation.

Meanwhile, another party leader suggested that the High Court (HC) should be set up in Visakhapatnam, for which Sivaramakrishnan Committee made a recommendation in its report, or Tirupati. If HC is established in the port city, a Circuit bench should be set up in Tirupati. The BJP has also passed resolutions seeking speedy completion of pending irrigation projects in the State, sanction of adequate funds for Polavaram project and steps for decentralised development and administration of the State. The joint initiative for providing uninterrupted power supply to domestic, commercial and industrial sectors between the State and Ministry of Power was welcomed by the party.
