After coming under sharp criticism for allegedly colluding with the Congress party in passing the A.P Reorganisation Bill in Parliament, top BJP leaders are currently on a confidence-building exercise in Seemandhra as their cadres faced the heat from various quarters for not preventing bifurcation.
Starting with two consecutive days of brainstorming here by Rajya Sabha member M. Venkaiah Naidu, the party is making efforts to clear the air of apprehensions about its role in the entire episode by organising similar meetings across the region in the weeks ahead.
Besides, the party’s Seemandhra Udyama Committee will be soon bringing out a book containing detailed information of the party’s stand on the emotive issue of bifurcation and how the ruling party tried all possible tricks to make BJP the villain of the piece.
Copies of the book will be supplied to all 13 district units to enable party’s rank and file to make a point-to-point rebuttal of the slew of allegations made in and outside Parliament by the Congress.
While doing so, the party cadres were advised to plan for development of Seemandhra with emphasis on the economic potential of its long coastline which is next only to that of Gujarat, rail and road connectivity and other such important issues instead of entirely dwelling on the political angle (to bifurcation). The achievements of BJP-led NDA were sought to be given due priority.
Against this backdrop, Seemandhra BJP leaders stated that they were against forging an alliance with the TDP while their high command’s decision is still pending.
Meanwhile, Narendra Modi’s tour of Seemandhra districts is expected to give a morale-booster at a time when the party is seen as the main culprit behind bifurcation. While promising to do their best for exposing the Congress party’s alleged misdeeds, leaders of Seemandhra Udyama Committee have resolved to ask Mr. Modi to ‘adopt’ Seemandhra for achieving the kind of development that won him global acclaim in his home State Gujarat.
