Hundreds of activists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took out a motorcycle rally from Suryaraopet to Samarangam Chowk here on Sunday in celebration of the party’s decisive victory in Assembly elections held in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Delhi.

Burst crackers

They burst crackers and distributed sweets to the public for the remarkable victory achieved by the party’s candidates, and thanked party president Rajnath Singh and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for their support and guidance.

Party leaders D. Umamaheswara Raju (City President), Yerneni Sitadevi (former MLA), Lakshmipathi Raja (State executive member), Chikkala Rajanikanth (Yuva Morcha State General Secretary) and B. Kaleswara Rao (SC Morcha State V-P) and others participated in the celebrations.

Mr. Umamaheswara Raju told The Hindu that the victory was a clear reflection of the goodwill people reposed in BJP in all the four States that went to polls and a slap in the face of Congress party which tried all the dirty tricks to defeat its arch-rival.

Corrupt governance

While the Congress party shot itself in the foot by delivering corrupt and inefficient governance, the Narendra Modi factor had certainly helped a lot in clinching the much-needed victory, he added. A majority of the youth had apparently voted for the BJP and they will support it in the ensuing general elections, the BJP leaders predicted and exuded confidence that Mr. Modi would become the Prime Minister.
