The State government has decided to monitor the attendance of candidates undergoing training under the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu through a biometric system.
Rajiv Education and Employment Mission of AP (REEMAP) Chairman K. C. Reddy conducted a workshop on ‘Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu; systems improvement' here on Friday. On the occasion, he said that it was noticed that the candidates were undergoing training in more than one discipline or not attending the classes regularly. The bio-metric system would help in keeping a tab on these issues.
The REEMAP has noted that there were many challenges in the implementation of the prestigious programme. The youth were not attracted to it; the agencies should enlighten the trainees on job profile, salary expected after the training.
The attrition rate was also very high in first level employment. The youth should not return to their village with a negative approach to the programme. The tracking of the candidates after training was a Herculean task, he pointed out.
Nuzvid MLA Chinnam Ramakotaiah stressed on the need to motivate the youth in villages. Enrolment centres at the villages were the need of the hour, apart from wide publicity. The target of providing 3.5 lakh jobs was not sufficient if the unemployment rate were to be considered. The government should have set much high target, he opined.
Vijayawada (Central) MLA Malladi Vishnu expressed the view that desired results were not achieved ever since the programme was grounded. Much more effective planning was required, he said.
District Collector S.A.M. Rizvi said that youth play key role in economic development. India has a demographic advantage over competitors like China and Russia.
