A vain bid by some miscreants to enter the house of Srikakulam District Superintendent of Police A.S. Khan created a flutter in Vijayawada. Mr. Khan was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the city before being made an SP.

According to sources, five persons who came on two bikes scaled the compound wall of the SP’s house located at Sanath Nagar, under Penamaluru police station limits, in the early hours of Thursday. A neighbour who saw them raised an alarm, following which they fled.

East Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) K.M. Maheswara Raju said that according to eyewitnesses, four masked men tried to enter the first floor of the building around 3.30 a.m. Police are trying to trace the accused with the help of cell towers in the locality.

Police are investigating the case in all angles as Mr. Khan served in Telangana and was involved in various anti-Naxal operations.
