VIJAYAWADA: The III Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court here permitted the Crime Investigation Department (CID) to take M. Bhanu Kiran, the prime accused in murder of Maddelacheruvu Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri, into two-day custody from June 3 (Tuesday) in the Annapurna Packaging Industries (API) case.
The judge dismissed CID’s plea for six days’ custody of Bhanu during the hearing into its petition on Monday. Consequent upon the court order, Bhanu is being brought from Cherlapalli Central Jail where he is under imprisonment in Suri murder case, and will be handed over to CID officials in the city on Tuesday morning.
Bhanu is currently on remand in the API case till June 5. He was accused of interfering in a dispute in which the owners of API (situated at Enikepadu) were involved.
Criminal charges were framed on the basis of a complaint lodged by V. Syam Prasad, one of the partners of API, who alleged that he was threatened with dire consequences besides being manhandled by Bhanu. He (Bhanu) has since been making rounds of the city courts.
