Describing the ‘rejection’ of A.P. Reorganization Bill, 2013 in the Assembly as people’s victory, Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, Andhra Intellectuals Forum leader Chalasani Srinivas and others warned MPs and MLAs from Seemandhra region against relaxing, saying that the danger of bifurcation lurks till February 21, when Parliament session ends.
Besides, the BJP whose support is essential for passing the Bill, has to be persuaded not to become a party to the Congress party’s conspiracy which wants to divide the State for political mileage.
The ‘Chief Minister and his team’ have successfully sent back the controversial Bill, and every individual who wants the State to remain united should be wary of the backdoor methods through which the Central Government might get it passed in Parliament.
TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao and his followers would provoke the people of Seemandhra as part of their efforts to get the State divided by hook or crook.
Addressing people at an agitation venue organised by the APNGOs’ Association and Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samiti here on Friday, Mr. Vishnu said Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy did justice to his captain’s role by getting the Bill rejected by 159 MLAs amidst attempts mainly by TRS MLAs to attack the Speaker Nadendla Manohar to prevent him from moving the resolution for sending back the Bill under Rule 77 as per the notice served by the Chief Minister.
Their evil designs were thwarted by the MLAs from Seemandhra region who protected the Speaker by forming a security cordon around him.
Mr. Vishnu questioned why the TRS MLAs could not give a rebuttal to the Chief Minister’s statement if the grounds on which they sought Statehood to Telangana were genuine. Having failed to counter the Chief Minister’s claims, the TRS has lost the moral right to demand a separate State.
Legitimate concernMr. Chalasani Srinivas said he did not doubt the intentions of those who wanted Telangana but what vitiated the atmosphere was the distortion of facts and abusing of the people in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema who too had legitimate concerns. The supporters of Telangana did not have the courage to come forward for a meaningful debate, which was the need of the hour, he asserted.
APNGOA district branch leaders A. Vidyasagar and Md. Iqbal, YSR Congress leader P. Gowtham Reddy, and Bezawada Bar Association president M. Jayakar participated.
