Forum for Better Bapatla says oceans are hit by human activities. Forum for Better Bapatla secretary P.C. Sai Babu said that as much as 40 per cent of the world oceans were heavily affected by human activities.

Students of Bapatla Engineering College undertook a daylong cleaning up programme on Sunday.

The students, who are members of the Suryodaya Society for Awakening Community (SAC), cleaned up the Suryalanka beach on the occasion of the World Oceans Day.

Boys and girls cleared all the plastic bottles, carry bags and other waste material thrown on the shore. They have also administered a pledge to the visitors to the effect that they will protect the sea, without polluting it.

Forum for Better Bapatla secretary P.C. Sai Babu said that as much as 40 per cent of the world oceans were heavily affected by human activities, including pollution, depleted fisheries, and loss of coastal habitats and added that humans have to ensure that oceans continue to meet our needs without compromising those of future generations.

Lecturer in Bapatla Engineering College N. Ramgopal, rural head constable Poulas, artist G.V. student volunteers participated in the programme.
