Bankers’ cooperation sought on crop loans

Srikakulam District Collector Saurabh Gaur on Tuesday asked bankers to disburse crop loans as early as possible and help the administration meet the requirements under the District Credit Plan.

He addressed bankers after releasing the credit plan, which is aimed at releasing Rs. 1,799 crore worth crop loans during Kharif and Rabi seasons. He urged NABARD officials to set up cold storage units in fishermen villages. Mr. Gaur also urged bank officials to concentrate on educational loans to help students pursue higher studies.

According to him, the government will impart training programmes to youngsters to improve their skills which are necessary to earn jobs in reputed firms. NABARD District Officer Vasudevan and Agriculture Department Joint Director K.S.S. Chandrasekhara Raju attended the meeting.
