The agitation against proposed division of Andhra Pradesh continued on Saturday also for the fourth day with members of APNGO boycotting duties and coming on to the streets.
They played on the main roads, challenged the Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao to throw them out of Hyderabad and raised slogans against the bifurcation.
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Employees formed a human chain on the National Highway No.9 close to Praksam Barrage and demanded the UPA Government to withdraw its proposal to divide the State.
The shops and establishments continued to remain closed on Saturday too with only a handful of them open. The majority of the banks remained closed with no transactions taking place.
Samaikyandhra Student and Political JAC leaders formed human chain and blocked roads at several places. The Telugu Desam Party leaders not to be left out, blocked traffic at the NTR Circle on Bandar Road and burnt the effigy of Central Government in which TDP District president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and former MP Gadde Rammohan participated.
The Vijayawada Purohits' Association performed Homam on the road to protest and the Taxi Drivers' Association joined the NGOs near PWD grounds to protest against the proposed bifurcation.
