In yet another attempt to divert the public attention from the delay in land acquisition for the proposed Bandar Port, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday spoke at length about the two pending bridge projects on river Krishna.

There was a huge gathering at the public meetings held at Bhavadevarapalli and Avanigadda, expecting an announcement on development of the Bandar Port, but Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy left them in great disappointment during his one-day visit to Diviseema.

Machilipatnam Member of Parliament Konakalla Narayana submitted a representation to the Chief Minister on the dais seeking immediate response from the State Government to speed up the port project works. “Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy did not even promise us any timely action and maintained total silence on the port works. He also did not reveal his mind on what the government stand on it was,” Mr. Narayana told The Hindu.

Addressing the gathering at the public meeting in Bhavaderapalli village, Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy explained in detail about measures being taken by the Government on a war footing to construct two bridges on river Krishna. He also revealed that the proposals for the two bridges – between Etimoga and Edurumondi and Ullipalem and Bhavanipuram – were now pending with the World Bank to get financial assistance.
