Baba Sehgal concert tomorrow

March 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Baba Sehgal, the first Indian rapper, will promote environmental conservation through a concert at the IGMC Stadium here on Sunday. Green Brigade Org. spokesperson Chilukuri Bhaskar said that the programme being organised by his NGO would not be a routine music concert.

“There would be skits, awareness videos and of course a scintillating performance by Baba Sehgal. ‘Super Singer’ Krishna Chaitanya along with his fiancé and TV anchor Mrudula would also add glamour to the show.

The rap singer had even composed a song to promote love for environment,” Mr. Bhaskar said. Green Brigade Org. was working for environmental conservation through tree plantation, waste management and preparation of bio-diversity registries. Green Brigade Org felicitated the planting of two million plants in Hyderabad, one million plants in Nalgonda by involving 4.27 lakh children of 3,700 schools. The organisation also distributed 2.5 lakh medicinal plants in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and other places, he said.

With the help of residents of different colonies Green Brigade Org prepared bio-diversity registries in Hyderabad. This would help in preparing the bio-diversity Index of the entire city in the long run, he said. He said every village should constitute a Bio-Diversity Committee and take steps to protect the bio-diversity under provisions of the Bio-Diversity Act. Such committees had the power to prevent the destruction of greenery by real estate companies and industrial units. Green Brigade Org was coming to Vijayawada for the first time, he said.

Passes

Entrance to the concert is not free, but passes are being given away to customers who make purchases of goods or products at different outlets. Entrance passes will be available at Reliance Fresh, PVP Mall, Big Baazar, Thummidi Brothers and few other places.
