Award for Telugu doctor

U.S.-based Telugu doctor Aravind Cherukuri has been selected by the Canadian Transplantation Society for its ‘Young Investigator Scientific Award’.

The award will be presented to him for his work on prediction of kidney rejection using a novel blood test before it is diagnosed on a biopsy and planning appropriate treatment. The award, which includes a cash award of $ 2,000, would be presented to him at Hong Kong on April 22.

Dr. Aravind hails from Uppalapadu in Guntur district. He did his MBBS at Guntur Medical College and specialised in renal transplantation at the University of Leeds in the U.K. He is currently doing research at the Thomas E Strazi Transplantation Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
