A 10-member team are shooting a short film titled ‘August 15’ on the role of youth in India. It is going to give a wake up call to youngsters and remind them of their duties, said Image Reels Production members who are producing the documentary.

The team shot the film at Dhanekula Institute of Engineering and Technology (DIET) with the students on the college campus at Ganguru on the city outskirts on Tuesday. The budding engineers cooperated for the shots on the campus, said `August 15’ director Ramana.

Many students are leaving the country after completing education in India. The country is spending lakhs of rupees on every student by extending scholarships and other facilities. But, the students are spending most of the time abroad neglecting the motherland.

“Our aim is to highlight the problems and remind the responsibilities of youth in society. We hope that ‘August 15’ will touch the hearts of a few youngsters who will dedicate themselves to the growth of the country,” said Mr. Ramana.

Two friends meet at a place and discuss on education and employment opportunities in India and the students flying abroad. Later, a few more youth join them and the team decides to bring out a movement among the youth on the problems, said co-director Kumar Potepally.

“We shot some scenes on Gandhi Hill, busy roads, slums and DIET campus. Issues like poverty, homeless people, orphan children, sanitation, traffic and other problems were highlighted in ‘August 15’, Mr. Kumar said adding that the documentary would be released on Independence Day.

The documentary produced with different themes would be uploaded in the social media sites and a few channels promised to screen the film, said Mr. Ramana.
