Activists of Kula Vivaksha Vyatireka Prachara Chaitanya Sangam (KVVPS) on Monday organised a dharna in front of the Sub-Collector’s Office here demanding action against the accused in Srikakulam incident, in which four persons belonging to the Scheduled Caste were killed.
The protestors alleged that the followers of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Botcha Satyanarayana were trying to grab the land being cultivated by dalits.
Even as the victims brought the high-handedness of the ruling party activists to the notice of the officials, no action was taken.
They raised slogans demanding the Government to arrest former MPP Botcha Vasudeva Rao Naidu and a local leader Avula Srinivas, who were allegedly behind the attack.
The Revenue officials should take steps to prevent recurrence of attacks on the Scheduled Caste persons, they demanded.
The KVVPS members urged the Srikakulam district officials to provide necessary medical aid to the victims and extend compensation benefits to the bereaved families as announced by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
The KVVPS leaders Ravi, Shekar Babu, M. Jyothi, B. Naga Lakshmi, Durga Prasad, V. Ramesh, P. Rakesh, Shanti, Rukmini and others participated.
