Close to 50 artistes and technicians took membership in the newly-formed cultural unit — Telugu Artistes Federation.
Welfare aspectsThe federation was launched at Hanumanthraya Grandhalayam on Wednesday to promote dance, theatre, music and other forms of fine arts. Its chairman H.V.R.S. Prasad, a well-known theatre artiste, said the main objective of the federation was to look after the welfare aspects of artistes and technicians and help them to update their skills.
“We will be conducting workshops and seminars regularly to help artistes in all fronts,” Mr. Prasad explained.
Cultural programmes were also organised on the occasion. Noted mimicry artiste Silvester and Hindi singer Mohammad Khaja enthralled the audience.
Mr. Silvester, Mr. Khaja and P.V. Bhaskara Sarma will act as vice-chairmen, while R. Mohan Krishna as general secretary and B.V. Shyam Prasad as treasurer.
P.V.N. Krishna, S. Subramanyam and Padmasri will be joint secretaries.
