Overwhelming response from students to Yantrik-2012
Robotics is a ubiquitous topic of the modern era. It will be part and parcel of our lives a few years from now.
This was the message given at a national students’ convention — Yantrik-2012 — on robotics and mechatronics conducted by KL University in association with the Robotics Core School (RCS) and the JILIT.
S. Guru Prasad from DRDO, Pune; K. Ramesh, Additional Director, CAIR, Bangalore; Sartaj Singh, scientist, CAIR, Bangalore; S.N Shoume, scientist, CMERI, Durgapur; and C.S. Kumar, Mechanical Department, IIT Kharagpur; giving their messages.
Over 200 students from various colleges and universities took part in ‘Paper and Poster’ presentation. Student participation at the convention peaked at 2,000. Presentations were held in three distinct disciplines — Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Embedded Systems, said a release from the university.
Model contest was akin to a cake with a cherry on its top. Students played a key role and designed “Bots” of various types with around 55 models under expert guidance of KLU faculty members.
