Children of Vignan Global Zen Schools in the city organised a Green Vinayaka exhibition on the school premises at LIC Colony on Saturday. Nearly a thousand eco-friendly idols of Lord Ganesha were displayed by the children in the run-up to Vinayaka Chavithi festival which is just a couple of days away.
Superintendent of Police (urban) A. Ravi Krishna participated as the chief guest. He said there was need to create awareness about the adverse impact of idols made of hazardous materials on the environment by organising such events.
He appreciated the creative talents of children and hoped that the adults would emulate the young ones in making their own contributions to environment protection.
Vignan Institutions chairman L. Rathaiah, vice-chairman L. Srikrishnadevarayalu and others took part.
