The TDP has lodged a complaint with the District Consumer Forum against the Southern Power Distribution Company of AP Limited (SPDCL), accusing it of not implementing the assurances given by the State government.
A team led by Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao filed the complaint in the Forum.
On the occasion, he said the SPDCL was supposed to supply power for agriculture connections for seven hours in a day. But, it was not supplying power to any sector, including domestic, he said.
Disclosing the details of the complaint, he said there was gross deviation and deficiency in services rendered by the company. As a result of deficiency in offering the services, the people had been suffering from inconvenience and loss of wage.
Loss of livelihood
Students were not able to prepare for examinations and carry on their home work, he said.
Drinking water supply was badly affected in villages, which do not have overhead tanks and where direct pumping was involved. Patients in hospitals were also suffering due to unscheduled and scheduled power-cut, he said.
Workers employed in small scale industries lost their daily wage, as the industries were closed due to power-cut. Farmers who depend on well/ borewell irrigation lost their crops due to acute power shortage, he said.
“The TDP has requested the Forum to give a direction as deemed fit to the SPDCL under the circumstances placed before it,” he said.
