The Vijayawada Zone of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will run 400 special services from Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari districts for the convenience of the devotees visiting Kanaka Durga temple.
Additional buses will be operated from October 16 to 25, to and from various destinations, said the RTC Vijayawada Zone Executive Director M.S. Prakasa Rao.
The Corporation was running 425 buses to Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and other cities regularly. During Dasara festival to clear the rush, RTC has proposed to ply double the number of buses, said Mr. Rao.
About 10 lakh devotees are expected to attend ‘Navarathri Utsavams’ atop Indrakeeladri. Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devastanam officials, Revenue, AP Transco and the Police are making elaborate arrangements for the devotees attending the utsavams.
The APSRTC and the South Central Railway (SCR) is operating additional services. The ED said that special buses would be operated from Eluru, Bhimavaram, Guntur, Mangalagiri, Vijayawada, Machilipatnam, Gudivada and other depots. Additional buses would be arranged as per the demand.
Advance reservation system is available for special buses also and commuters have been requested to book tickets at all the bus stations. Advance reservation is also available with all the RTC franchisees in the zone, said Mr. Prakasa Rao.
Meanwhile, heavy rush was seen at the bus and railway stations as the schools announced Dasara vacations. Long queues were seen at the ticket issuing counters at Pandit Nehru Bus Station and at the railway station.
