Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET) for 2018 will be conducted by Andhra University on July 1.

Announcing the date of the test for the year at AU Senate Hall on Friday, Vice-Chancellor of the varsity G. Nageswara Rao said unlike last year, there will only be two papers (paper I and II) the eligible candidates will be appearing this year.

“Focussing, research aptitude of the candidates, paper-I will be conducted in bilingual (English and Telugu). However, as far as paper-II is concerned, only eight subjects, including commerce, economics, education, history, political science, public administration, sociology and social work, will be held in bilingual and the rest will be conducted in English,” Prof. Nageswara Rao said.

The V-C said the APSET will be based on the pattern of National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC, covering the syllabus prescribed by UGC-CSIR and UGC-NET.

Of 32,282 candidates appeared for the test last year, the V-C said only 2,229 were qualified.

Six centres

The examination will be held at six regional centres — Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram, Guntur, Nellore, Anantapur and Tirupati.

This year, the notification for APSET is scheduled on March 18. The submission of online applications commences from March 26 and the last date for the submission of filled in online applications (without late fee) is May 2. Category-wise registration fee for APSET-2018 is as follows — General: ₹1,000; BC: ₹800; SC/ST/PH/VH: ₹500. payment can be made through credit card or debit card or net banking.
