APERC Chairman assumes office

The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) will continue to function with commitment and determination for the development of the power sector by ensuring financial stability of the power utilities with the ultimate objective of protecting the interests of the consumers, its Chairman Justice G. Bhavani Prasad has said.

Speaking after taking oath as the Chairman of APERC in Hyderabad on Friday, Mr. Justice Bhavani Prasad said that a special mechanism would be evolved for inviting the views of all categories of consumers throughout the year for the betterment of the power sector as well as consumers. He assured that the APERC would strive hard for reposing the confidence of consumers, and termed his reappointment as a privilege. “APERC will encourage and support the power utilities to adopt internationally proven best practices in areas like reduction of losses, adopting IT-enabled services, energy efficiency measures, etc. Such steps will result in rendering better, value added services to the consumers,” he added.

Chief Secretary of Government of Andhra Pradesh and Chairman of State Energy Conservation Mission S.P. Tucker administered the oath of office to Mr. Justice Bhavani Prasad in the presence of APERC members P. Rammohan and P. Raghu, Principal Secretary (Energy) Ajay Jain, APGenco Managing Director K. Vijayanand, Energy Department advisor K. Ranganatham and Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman Ismail Ali Khan, and TSERC members L. Manohar Reddy and H. Srinivasulu.
