August 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:36 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The A.P. Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) is conducting its State Advisory Committee meeting at the SPDCL Circle Office here on August 19.

Reforms to be discussed

The meeting will discuss reforms in the electricity industry and suggestions on the implementation of the Electricity Act, 2003, Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) Cycle-II, and merits of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) in promoting eco-friendly energies.

APERC Chairman Justice G. Bhavani Prasad stated in a press release that A.P. was far superior in terms ofregulatory compliance, consumer mobilisation, and advocacy, and operational performance of the power utilities.

The APERC would maintain the same tempo by keeping in view all relevant factors.

Mr. Justice Prasad stated that power distribution companies had been recently notified as Designated Consumers under the provisions of Energy Conservation Act, 2001 in the PAT Cycle II (2016-2019) implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
