Border district police of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana discussed on the strategies to be followed to exchange data of criminals and minimise crime rate.
City Police Commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao chaired the meeting. Central Crime Station (CCS) police from Guntur, East and West Godavari, Ongole, Nellore, Chittoor, Krishna, Khammam and Nalgonda districts participated.
Police opined that criminals are crossing states and districts freely and committing offences due to lack of coordination between police of the adjoining districts. They stressed the need to strengthen network, exchange data of criminals, wanted criminals, clearing Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs), sharing Daily Situation Report (DSR) and major crimes occurred in each district.
Mr. Venkateswara Rao said the CCS police should have knowledge on wanted criminals and habitual offenders of the other districts, release of criminals from jails, pending NBWs, arrest intimation of an accused and escorting of prisoners to the jails located in other districts and states.
The police commissioner instructed the police to appoint a nodal officer for maintaining better coordination and sharing information. Police would take steps to prevent entry of robbers, attention diversion gangs, chain snatchers and kidnap gangs into their limits, once they have information on their movements.
Police should pass information on arrest of an offender, grant of bail, release of criminals from jails and transit of under trail and convicted prisoners to neighbouring districts.
The investigation officers should alert their counterparts on an offence to prevent recurrence of crimes at the neighbouring places, he said.
PresentationThe Vijayawada city police gave a power point presentation on chain snatching gangs, fake police gangs, gold polishing gangs, attention diversion gangs at ATMs and vehicle lifters.
PleaThe police commissioner appealed to the CCS wing police to focus on prosecution, filing charge sheets with full details to prevent bail to the offenders and get maximum punishment to them.
