The government has established the A.P. Corporation for Welfare and Development of Most Backward Classes for promoting the welfare and development of nomadic and semi-nomadic communities and de-notified tribes mentioned in the list of Backward Classes (BC) – A category.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Friday, Minister for BC Welfare Kollu Ravindra said the Corporation was formed under the Companies Act, 2013. He said a total of 32 communities would be served by the Corporation and that they were the most neglected and suppressed communities pushed to the fringes of society.

Their low social, educational, economic and political status had resulted in less or no visibility and a majority of them did not have any occupation.

They depended on begging or daily wage jobs and were being exploited, Mr. Ravindra said.

The government, therefore, formed the Corporation for including them in the development process thereby empowering them to the extent possible.

Civils training for BCs and Kapus

Mr. Ravindra said that an entrance examination for giving training in civil services examination would be conducted under the aegis of the JNTU-Kakinada on June 26 for the benefit of BC and Kapu candidates.

A total of 1,000 candidates (500 from the BC and an equal number from the Kapu community) would be imparted free training.
