Andhra Pradesh Police entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with DEEP Trust, a Hyderabad-based NGO, to offer protection to policemen from diseases and spread awareness about the occupational hazards.
A pilot project, under which 2,509 policemen and women of Vijayawada Police Commissionerate will undergo a master health check-up to be organized by the DEEP. This will be the first step in that direction. The scheme will be expanded throughout the State in phases later. The reports will be made available on a website and Smart phone app called Meditrix.
Director General of Police J.V. Ramudu and Vasepalli Madhu and A.K. Srinivas of the DEEP Trust exchanged copies of the MoU in the presence of Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang and Additional Commissioner of Police Mahesh Chandra Ladda.
On the occasion, Mr. Ramudu said that many police personnel were suffering from diabetes, acidity and cardiac problems. “Our job is fraught with high tension and if we don’t take precautions, we will pay a heavy price in the form of various diseases”, the DGP observed.
