Capital panel visits Chandigarh

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana along with his team of officers visited Chandigarh as part of studying various Capital cities in the country. They went around the Legislative Assembly buildings of Chandigarh and Punjab, Secretariat and other important offices.

They had a look at the civic infrastructure which won for the city global acclaim as a planned city.

Mr. Narayana later visited the Sukhna Lake which is one of the main attractions in the Common Capital of Chandigarh and Punjab. The Minister inquired about the local municipal laws, public transport and solid waste disposal among various aspects.

Local officials told the A.P delegation that due emphasis was laid on environment protection, piped supply of gas and tapping solar energy. The road and air connectivity enjoyed by people of the city was one of the highlights.

Punjab Government Secretary (Urban Development) Venu Prasad, Punjab State Chief City Planner Dhillon and State Chandigarh City Planner Sumit welcomed the delegation from A.P and guided through the slew of presentations on what made Chandigarh a world-class city.
