A VMC initiative, it will facilitate interaction among stakeholders

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation will design a Citizen Communication Platform (CCP), an online portal where the public, government departments and other stakeholders can socially communicate.

The portal, which will be part of the civic body’s official web portal, will allow the public to access the information provided by the government in the sub-groups and forums, and at the same time, will help the government reach out to the community, according to the officials in the corporation.

Digital Door Numbers

The Digital Door Numbers (DDN), a code containing geographic location, owner details and postal address, will play a key role in the CCP as every user needs to sign up with his or her DDN besides contact and personal details.

To make sure that DDNs are not ignored, the civic body will first re-fix the DDNs on every property with the DDN number and a QR Code on a weather-resistant foam board that would last for years. This will also cover the GIS mapping taken up by the State government. The civic body earlier issued DDNs to all the buildings in collaboration with Zippr and wrote down the code on a paper which faded away months later. Since then the initiative has not been followed up.

“As part of CCP, DDNs will be first streamlined so that they could be effectively used as alternative addresses to the lengthy addresses. Private delivery firms are also keen on using the DDNs as door delivery is made easy with it,” Municipal Commissioner J. Nivas said.

Ad revenue

The civic body is also expecting advertisement revenue generation from the portal that manages DDNs.

Citizens who sign up on the CCP will be able to go through the schemes and programmes of VMC and various government departments, discuss them in forums and like and share posts.
