The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner and Special Officer, Somesh Kumar on Thursday directed business establishments, coaching and educational institutions and others in and around Ameerpet to remove hoardings, flex banners and signboards by Saturday.

During an inspection of the area this morning, Mr.Somesh Kumar said failure to remove this publicity material by Saturday would result in the civic body and traffic police removing all the unauthorised hoardings and banners and duly imposing heavy fines.

Citing High Court instructions, he said that the civic body would view violations seriously and apart from heavy penalties would even seize shops and establishments that flout the norms and set up hoardings, flex banners and signboards. On the roads being littered heavily with pamphlets and other publicity material, he directed the civic body and traffic police officers to curb the menace.

As many educational institutions were located in the vicinities of Ameerpet, Mr.Somesh Kumar said that the Rs.5 food scheme would be introduced here shortly for the convenience of students and poor people.
