The Communist Party of India (Maoist), which had a strong presence in united Andhra Pradesh until a few years ago, is reportedly trying to arrive on the scene in Amaravati, the upcoming capital of Andhra Pradesh.
The party is studying, among other things, the implementation of the Land Pooling Scheme, assurances given to farmers and unemployment in the capital region.
Top Maoist leaders discussed the situation in Thullur mandal in Guntur district. They enquired about the benefits announced by the A.P. government and the actual situation in the capital’s villages, intelligence sources said.
Action teamAccording to reliable sources, the party has formed an action team with Visakha East Division Committee members Gammela Keshava Rao alias Binsu and Jagamudi Venkateswara Rao alias Anand, and Rajesh, an active member in the Chhattisgarh unit.
The committee members reportedly visited the capital’s villages. They interacted with land owners who are agitating against land pooling and those who could not get any benefit announced by the government.
It is learnt that the action team members are taking the help of a few committees which are fighting for the cause of the farmers.
The extremists are also tracking the movement of some people’s representatives and officials visiting the region, the sources said.
The government took about 33,000 acres from farmers one year ago.
Farmers who parted with patta lands were promised 1,000 square feet per acre and those who parted with assigned lands were promised 450 sft per acre.
