For those tired of waiting in the Sun to board the city buses, here is a piece of good news. A modern e-Bus Bay with all passenger amenities is set to be inaugurated on the Lakshmipuram main road.

The bay is an air-conditioned enclosure which has facilities to accommodate 50 passengers, offers free wifi services, first aid, toilets, mobile charging plugs, Automated Teller Machines and potable water.

The e-Bus Bay is one of the innovative initiates of Guntur Municipal Corporation and is being taken up in Private Public Partnership (PPP) mode. City-based Bhavani Ads firm has made the ergonomically designed bus bay with a cost of ₹60 lakh.

Located besides the E-Seva complex on the Lakshmipuram Main Road, the bay would soon be inaugurated.

“The bus bay is the first-of-its kind project in the State. It is located on GMC site and faces the main road. The firm which has bagged the contract will maintain the bay,” said City Planner Chakrapani.

The bus bay comes at a time when the RTC has introduced city services. With more number of students and young working professionals using the city services, the city may require more bus bays.

Bhavani Ads which has designed the bus bay will have exclusive advertisement rights of the screen located on top of the bus bay.

More bus bays

“Bus bays like these are necessary for passengers and the city does not have many bus bays. We are proposing to build at least 10 bus shelters in the city,” said managing director of Bhavani Ads Bhaskar.
