Chinmaya Mission is conducting a 10-day summer camp for children in the 9 to 14 age group at nine centres in the city.
“Bala Vihar summer camp is an annual affair. This year, it is being conducted at nine different places, so that children do not have to go long distances to attend the camp, which begins at 7.30 a.m. and closes at 11.30 a.m.,” said Swami Prathamesananda. The camp that began on Friday will conclude on May 5.
“The activities at the summer camp are designed to create self-confidence, develop discipline and dynamic leadership and reverence for our ancient culture. Another objective of the camp is to mould the children to express their individuality and other dormant creative talents,” he added.
Addressing children at the inauguration, Swami Prathamesananda spoke about the five mothers in Indian culture. “The first mother is ‘Jaganmatha’, the mother of the universe, the second is ‘shruthimatha’, the scriptures, the third is ‘bhoomatha’, mother earth, the fourth is ‘Bharatha matha’, mother India, and finally one’s own mother,” he said. Children interested in joining the camp should register at the earliest, Swamiji said. For further information, they can contact 9849776996 / 9490195689.
