The Alakananda ghats developed at Muktyala near Jaggayyapet in Krishna district by a private firm has turned into a pilgrim’s delight.

Besides people from in and around Jaggayyapet, pilgrim flow originating from Hyderabad is taking a diversion towards the left from the National Highway at Chillakuru to head to the pristine bathing ghats nestled amidst nature’s warmth.

“From day one, the three ghats we have developed here have been receiving over 10,000 pilgrims daily. The rare view of the river from this point — confluence of Paleru and Krishna — and the lush green surroundings provide a picnic ambience to the visitors. Women especially are enjoying shower bath we have organised in an enclosure. At least 100 people can avail themselves of this facility at a time,” said A.V.R. Chowdary, founder chairman of G &C Global Consortium Pvt. Ltd., the firm which has proposed to build a mega tourism integrated infrastructure project at the site.

Refreshments

Besides a row of permanent toilet structures and sheds to perform pinda pradanam with availability of 60 priests, the organisers are also serving breakfast to 4,000 people and lunch to 2,000 people in addition to tea and coffee and mineral water at a short distance from the ghats.

A guest house at the site receives VIP visitors and drones have been pressed into service for surveillance of the area. Every two hours, the drones take a sortie around the 310 acres to ensure safety of the visitors.

Based on confirmation of the visit by Sachidananda Swami to the ghats on Monday, the organisers are gearing up to receive 3,000-plus devotees for his pravachanams at a site abutting the ashram for which the firm has given 2 acres of land.

“I have been camping at this site since August 10 to ensure all facilities at the ghats with the assistance of a six-member core team, a 10-member local team and over 200 volunteers,” said Mr. Chowdary.

Some of the VIPs who have visited this ghat include Principal Secretary for Medical and Health Poonam Malakondaiah, TDP leader Kambhampati Ramamohan Rao, Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao and celebrities from film and television fields.
