Chief Minister K. Rosaiah will inaugurate the golden jubilee celebrations of the All India State Government Employees' Federation (AISGEF) at Andhra Loyola College auditorium here on Tuesday.
AISGEF vice-chairman K. Swamy Goud and APNGO's Association general secretary P. Ashok Babu, briefing the media, said that 1,500 delegates from 23 states, 100 observers from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, South Africa, Brazil and national representatives of nine major trade unions would be attending the three-day conference that had on its agenda subjects from price rise to right to strike.
Mr. Goud said that Chief Secretary to the State government and Civil Services Joint Staff Council chairman S.V. Prasad would also attend the inaugural function along with Ministers Mopidevi Venkata Ramana and Kolusu Parathasarathy.
Important trade union leaders like CITU vice-president M.K. Pandhe, AITUC former general secretary A.B. Bardhan, Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers secretary-general K.K.N. Kutty, All India Insurance Employees' Association general secretary K. Venugopal, Bank Employees Federation of India general secretary Pradeep Biswas and BSNL Employees Union general secretary P. Abhimanyu have been extended a special invitation for the celebrations.
The celebrations would begin with AISGEF chairman R.G. Karnik unfurling the federation flag at 10.30 a.m. Vijayawada MP and chairman of the reception committee Lagadapati Rajagopal would deliver the welcome address.
Former office-bearers of the federation would be felicitated at the end of the inauguration by senior vice-chairman Sukomal Sen.
The national council of the federation would hold deliberations in five sessions — one on Tuesday afternoon, two each on Wednesday and Thursday. The golden jubilee celebrations would be followed by a rally from Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium to ALC auditorium that would culminate in a public meeting, Mr. Goud said.
